WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT OUR DENTAL HYGIENE SERVICES
FAQ'S
-
HOW MUCH DOES A TEETH CLEANING COST?The cost varies from person to person (and even visit to visit sometimes) and let us explain why... Our focus is on entire health and not just a teeth cleaning. The cost of a cleaning itself varies depending on your individual health situation. If we offered blanket services and pricing for every client, we wouldn't be respecting your unique needs, medical history, personal preferences and goals. Our commitment to you is in providing expert, personalized care and giving you a better understanding of your oral health and health potential. You are always in control of your treatment. We would discuss your individualized care plan and provide a more accurate answer about pricing before you spend anything.
-
DO YOU ACCEPT INSURANCE?Yes, we will submit claims to all insurance companies on your behalf and you will be reimbursed by your insurance company. TIP: The fastest way to get reimbursed is by setting up direct deposit with your insurance company. We accept many forms of payment like debit, credit, cash, and/or e-transfer.
-
DO YOU HAVE A DENTIST ON STAFF?We do not have a dentist on staff, however we have a fantastic relationship with a number of dentists and would be happy to make a referral for you. Remember, you don't have to break up with your dentist to seek our services at Wilmot Smiles and you have the right to choose your provider whether it be a dentist or dental hygienist! Win... win! We can also make referrals to other healthcare professionals that specialize in your area of concern or need.
-
ARE YOUR FEES LOWER THAN AT MY DENTAL OFFICE?Our fees are based on the Ontario Dental Hygienists of Ontario Fee Guide. Most fees are slightly lower then those at dental offices using the Ontario Dental Association Fee Guide. Appointment fees depend on services that you choose and the time required to provide the care that you consent to. We are happy to discuss your treatment plan with you before services are provided.
-
WHY SEE AN INDEPENDENT REGISTERED DENTAL HYGIENIST?Our goal is to provide you with individualized care that is not focused on time. We book our own appointments which means we can allow for the appropriate amount of time essential for your needs. There is also something to be said about the consistency of the same hygienist every visit. We get to know you and your oral health and can identify changes. We learn your likes and dislikes and vice versa, and you get to know our techniques and style.

WHAT AGE SHOULD I BE BRINGING MY CHILD IN FOR A CHECKUP & CLEANING?Your child should be seen at the one year of age or within 6 months of getting their first tooth! Help prepare them for their first visit by having your child practice opening and closing their mouth, counting their teeth, reading a book about what to expect at their first dental appointment or watching a video. Try to avoid talking about negative experiences you may have had as a child. Our goal is to make their dental experience fun, exciting and educational so they will want to return time and time again!

WHAT INSTRUCTIONS DO I NEED TO FOLLOW AFTER MY ZOOM! IN-OFFICE PROFESSIONAL TEETH WHITENING TREATMENT?Congratulations and thank you for choosing Wilmot Smiles to complete your Zoom! in-office professional teeth whitening treatment. I trust you are happy with your results! The following instructions are designed to help maximize the investment you have made to brighten your smile! You may not notice it, but your teeth will continue to whiten over the next few days! If possible, I recommend avoiding any food and drinking only water for the first 2 hours. AVOID chromogenic (staining) foods, drinks, smoking/chewing tobacco for the first 48 hours. This includes things like coffee, tea, tobacco products, mustard, ketchup, pop, red wine, soy sauce, berries, & red sauces. Anything that can stain a white t-shirt can stain your teeth. Whitening dehydrates your teeth, and they will absorb stain easily… avoiding chromogenic drinks and foods will ensure your results are optimal and long lasting. Sensitivity the day of your treatment is possible and normal. Should you experience sensitivity from the treatment, know that it will most likely subside within 24 hours. If sensitivity persists for longer than 48 hours or does not improve, please contact me. To manage sensitivity the day of treatment, I recommend taking an Advil or Tylenol (depending on your doctor’s recommendations) as this can help decrease sensitivity. You can also use a sensitive toothpaste like Sensodyne. Brushing with the sensitive toothpaste and/or topically applying it to a specific area (using your finger or a cotton tip) is helpful. Remember to spit your toothpaste out but avoid rinsing, eating or drinking for 30 minutes after application. There are ingredients in the sensitive toothpaste that need to remain on your teeth to be beneficial and offer relief. Continue to practice good oral hygiene including thorough flossing, toothbrushing & tongue cleaning! Continue to visit a dental professional for regular dental cleanings! Lastly... enjoy your new, brighter smile! Results can last as long as 2 years:)
